How to determine the right fit

Let’s start with a misconception.  Very simply, there isn’t a standard length that’s right for you.  Your belly ring should not be too tight and definitely not too long. If it's too tight, you risk putting too much pressure on your piercing, and if it's too long, the bar will stick out and get snagged and pull onto things.  Please reach out to our Piercing Concierge™ for more details on fitting, jewelry and more. It’s just a simple chat.

A comfortable belly ring length is about 1 to 2mm longer than the distance between the middle of the top exit hole of your piercing and the lip or ridge of your navel.  Determining how long your jewelry should be is also impacted by how long you’ve had your piercing and whether it’s fully healed.  Shorter piercings need less of a gap. Think about it, there’s less swelling that could happen if you injure yourself. For the most part if you’re measuring from the middle of the exit hole 1mm or 1.5mm is sufficient for piercings around 8mm or shorter.  In other words, if you measure 8mm then add 1 or 1.5mm to that measure and choose 9mm or 9.5mm  as the bar length.
